The Indian caste system
The Indian caste (also known as Jati) system is deeply embedded in Indian society as a result of thousands of years of the system actively addressing roles for different people to perform throughout their life.This system is part of the Hindu religion, which has been the main religion in India for thousands of years. The Caste system may indicate one's place in society, but it does not indicate how successful or wealthy an individual may become. An individual can become incredibly wealthy and still be in a lower caste. Below is a pyramid depicting India's Caste system in it's simplest form.
